| | Finally got the hd right and now it won't charge or work off the cord. I had it into a place 2 times for the same problem at 60 bucks a try. They said we were being to rough on the cord and where it plugs in needed to be soldered. The plug in doesn't seem loose to me, and I really don't want to pay them another $60 for it to last only a little while. Actually I probaly would but my husband can be a cheapskate. I just don't want to listen to him LOL |

| Here's what I would do if it were my laptop. find the serial number on the charger/ power cord enter that number into e-bay buy section and find a good one that will probably cost you less than the $60 your paying the computer geniuses. email me the serial number and the make and model number and I will find you some. unclefester@charter.net |

I'm-a-thinkin' the power cord is not the problem (re-reading the post). Circuit board mounted power connectors are notorious for breaking loose from the solder traces on some models, especially if they are plugged/unplugged "rough" or bumped, or just looked at cross-eyed.
To fix that would require disassembly and resoldering of the circuit traces -- time consuming and many times a PITA if trace repair is needed. Sixty bucks probably is not an outrageous price for this.
My 2 cents...

| | I tried a new power cord nuthin. I just really don't want to go back to that place. Nothing ever seems to last real long from there. I paid them alot of money for parts to build two other computers. One the MB didn't even last a year and I kept getting the run around about the warranty. It was warranted no it wasn't oh maybe it is blah blah. I finally just went straight the manufacturer myself and they replaced it. And on the other I'm not sure if it was the MB or processor. I couldn't find anyone who could test them. |
